Today, THE Olympic games are  no doubt the most important cohesive force of the modern man. Today THE Olympic games represent grandest, and highly popular event of the manhood. Olympic games are the unique cultural component, and in any area of the overall world culture and civilization there is not event close to equal and similar for its beauty, nor the excitement, popularity, attractiveness, comprehensive state, nations, peoples, nor the progressivity, inventiveness, creativity striving to achieve unimagined dimensions.

June Fourth 1992nd year will remain registered as a historic date the formation of the Olympic Committee and the Executive Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 23 July of that year, when the IOC on its 99th Session decided that the National Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina received as an associate member to mark the start of performances BH athletes in this world's biggest sporting event. They were present much earlier in the Olympic events often as a key factor in achieving the unexpected results in sport.. As competitors Yugoslav representative teams were often the main levers to achieve top results.

Well, we remember with proud those sports results. Already on the first post-war (2.world War), at the XIV Olympic Games in London / UK /, we have the first right and very affirmative performance by the first bih Olympian – football player Miroslav Brozović. As a member of the Yugoslav football team he hunged a silver medal. Football players, eight years later, Ibrahim Biogradilić and Muhamed Mujić, at the XVI Olympic Games in Melbourne (Australia, 1956) also bring a silver medal, but also there is a recorded performance from the athlete Daka Radosevic. For the following XVII Games in Rome (Italy, 1960). We have Olympic gold. As a result once again of the football players! Tomislav Knez and Velimir Sombolac are members of the winning team. In Tokyo, (Japan, 1964.) Stops a great tradition of our Olympians. There was no medal. However, we note a second time performance athletes Daka Radosevic, but numerically the number of the football players from BIH improved : Ivan Curkovic, Mirsad Fazlagic, Lazar Lemić, Ivica Osim and Svetozar Vujovic.

In the annals of sport bh special place belongs to the year 1984. competing candidates for the organization of the XIV Winter Olympic Games near Sarajevo (former Yugoslavia) were Sapporo Japanese and Swedish combination of Falun / Göteborg. For political reasons, because of its very low level of Cold War boycotts of the Games, Sarajevo and Yugoslavia as a nonaligned country receives from the International Olympic Committee the confidence to organize the XIV Winter Olympics. XXI were the last Winter Olympics. They were held for the second time in North America and the third time in a Canadian city (Montreal - 1976., Calgary - 1988.), This time in Vancouver - 2010. Athletes competed in 15 (some say in 20 sports?): 8 in ice sports, 3 and snowboarding Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing 4. It was also the beginning of our neighbors Montenegro and Serbia  The exceptional  impression of the Games was spoiled by the tragic death of Georgian Athlete Nodira Kumaratašvilija (21 g) the day before the opening of the Olympic Games at his last training. Of our performers was: Alpine skiers - Klepić Maja, Marko Rudic, Zana Novakovic, biathlon – Tanja Karisik, and Nordic skiing – Tanja Karisik, M. Plakalović.
Finally, if you briefly summarize the performances of the BH athlete, it can be concluded that many of them carried the glory of our sport worldwide. It’s True that, the greatest achievements have been achieved during the SFRY (1948th-1992nd) when together with other athletes from the countries around makes a very compact and successful sports family. The winds of war who flew YU state most unfortunately ravaged Bosnia and Herzegovina. Outflow of athletes and coaches, lack of logistical support, damaged sports facilities, a national division ... mind have contributed to the Olympics do not have BH Olympic medals. In retrospective, however, we see that the best athletes are Olympians from the BiH.
